Blogoversary #2

Today marks this blog being 2 years old. I can’t believe it’s been that long already!!  I remember people thinking that I was crazy for starting another blog, but I really felt that all my printables needed to be separate from my daily life blog.  I stand by that as I mark today’s blogoversary!!

Seuss CVC Word Families

The Schoolhouse Moved - Files

I know that tomorrow is Dr. Seuss’ birthday and that most people/teachers had that for their theme this week.  I’ve just been so busy that I couldn’t make things as fast as I wanted to.  Besides, it’s never too late for for some Seuss!!

This is a mat set for making CVC word families.  There’s a mat and then cards with word families and letters to make CVC words.  There’s also a worksheet to record the word family and the words created.

Here’s a preview of this printable…..

Looking for Dr. Seuss??

The Schoolhouse Moved - Files

Are you looking for printables to use in your classroom, at home, or in your daycare to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss??  Maybe you just want some fun activities to keep the kids busy on the weekend or after school.  No matter the reason, I have what you need!!

I have lots of free printables to share with you.  In some of the links that I’m about to post, you might find some duplicates, but many won’t be.  Just take your time and browse around!!

On my blog, Commotion from the Ocean of Life, you’ll find a bunch of stuff for “Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss“.  Once upon a time, that’s where I used to share all my printables that I created!!

Next, some of you might remember the “Seuss-icle Followers Contest” that I held right here on this blog.  This contest lasted a week and I offered freebies each day.  Here you can find each of those posts and see just what I offered each day.

With luck and time, I’ll be creating some new materials this week.  Things have just been crazy busy and I’m barely keeping my head above the water right now!!  Keep your eyes open though and hopefully you’ll see something new featuring Dr. Seuss coming your way!!

Ash Wednesday

Ash-WedToday is Ash Wednesday and we celebrate as a class by attending mass.  Therefore, there won’t be a page for the Bible ABC’s today.  Please check back next week for the next letter in our Bible alphabet!!

New Year….New Printables

2013

Well, now that 2013 is here and the hustle and bustle of the holidays is over, I’ll be getting back to creating some new printables!!  I had big plans for Christmas freebies for all of you, but I just couldn’t complete anything other than my 2 Elf on the Shelf items.  Family is so important to me and we really did have a great holiday season.  I know that I didn’t have much for you all and that my blog took a little hit without things being posted, but it was worth it to me in so many ways!!

This weekend, I have several things going on, so it’ll be next week when I start creating and posting free materials again.  Also, next week I go back to teaching my religion class as Christmas Break will be over.  That means that I’ll be back to posting my weekly Bible Alphabet page.

Thanks for sticking by me and The Schoolhouse little blog!!

Happy New Year!!

Blessed-New-YearI can’t believe that it’s already 2013.  Time sure is flying!!  I don’t like that it’s going by so fast, but I’m ready to see what’s ahead.

I want to thank each of my readers and those that follow along with The Schoolhouse.  I wish each of you a very Happy and Blessed New Year!!

Merry CHRISTmas!!

Merry-Christmas-Nativity

Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

~Luke 2:4-7

Merry CHRISTmas to all!!

Shelf Elf Alphabetical Order Fill-In

It’s time for a Christmas freebie printable!!  This is the first year that my family has done the Elf on the Shelf and we’re having a great time with it.  Even though my daughter is a teen, she’s playing along and looks for him every morning.  How many of you have an Elf on the Shelf at home or in the classroom??

Well, I decided to create a couple printables for this cute little character.  This is just one of what I’m hoping will be at least a couple more.  This one was a complete thought and I was able to finish it up between the hectic holiday schedule!!

For this game, the directions say that the elves have lost their space on the shelves.  In order for them to get their spot back, they must be placed in alphabetical order by filling in the blanks between the elves already sitting on the shelf.  So the elves fit on the shelves better, I’d recommend cutting them out instead of the whole boxes.  For little hands, cutting the whole box might be more convenient.

Here’s a thumbnail view of what this game looks like….

If you use any of this freebie, please leave a comment and let me know or share pictures of your kids in action with it. I’d also appreciate it if you took the time to click the button below to vote for my blog….thanks!!
